Walker Walks 07-17-02

Dear Editor. It’s a shame that John Walker walked. This is a guy that didn’t stand for anything. First he changed his name then left this country to live elsewhere. Instead of fighting for the country that raised him, he joined a fanatical military that clearly had it in for the U.S. Walker Lindh said after Sept. 11 that if he left the Taliban he feared they would kill him. What did he think we were going to do? With no backbone Walker Lindh stood for nothing and fell for anything. He used that to his advantage to get a light sentence from the U.S. Federal Government compared to what he should have gotten for his crime against all the citizens of this country and what we stand for. John Walker Lindh is a traitor, he would have had more dignity if he had defended what he believed instead of bailing out of that belief so he could spend the next 20 years in a federal prison next to his parents house watching television in an air conditioned cell. I guess the next time you’ll hear from him, he’ll be complaining how bad he’s being treated.
